Phillip joined Bushby First National in December 1969.

His career was interupted in 1972, by National Service, which he undertook at the School of Artillery in Sydney. Upon return to the family business, Phillip eventually bought a half share in the company.

In 1977 Phillip achieved a Diploma in Real Estate and in 1986 became a Fellow of the Real Estate Institute of Australia.

Phillip has held many industry positions including being appointed in 1992 to the State Licensing Body and today he still holds that position. In 1993 he was inaugural Chairperson for the Australasian Senior Auctioneers Championship and held that position for four of the six championships. Phillip has also had the honor of being elected State President of the Real Estate Institute of Tasmania (REIT) for three years and National President of the Real Estate Institute of Australia (REIA). In 2002 he was recognised for his contribtion to the Institute being awarded Life Membership of the REIT.

Phillip currently holds the position of State Chairman and National Director for the First National Real Estate Network.
